An Interactive Holiday Event Display

Designed and Produced for ABC’s Nationally Broadcast Reality TV Show, The Great Christmas Light Fight

Watch this Monday, December 9th at 9PM EST on ABC

Project Description

A 6 foot, outdoor character (dubbed “Mr. Frosty”) is an animated and synchronized projection singing and dancing along to music and lights for a Christmas holiday light show display- created and produced by Pulse Design Studio.

Created with Adobe Character Animate, this dazzling light show addition adds new dimension and life creating a fun and interactative element to a high-end synchronized light show display. Live video and audio feeds are discreatly hidden allowing for viewers to interact and speak with Mr. Frosty as they watch and enjoy the show.

To create Mr. Frosty, we used Illustrator to build multi-layered illustration pieces which represented our character’s structure- including head, eyes, mouth, carrot nose and rosy cheeks.

(To the right, is a video that shows what we saw on stage):

To track its facial movement, we used an HD webcam to control the position, scale, rotation, and expressions of its facial features. To automate its lip syncing, we used a Yeti microphone to trigger its audio analysis that selected and applied mouth movements in sync with a voice-over artist. Additional character personality was added through triggered expressions such as blinking to bring our character to life.
